It’s simple and short. It is such a classic that it has to go on this list! Just be careful, this ride can spin a lot, and it may leave some guests feeling a little dizzy!

14. Space Mountain

Ride Time: 3 minutes
Space Mountain is a true Disney thrill classic and one of the most iconic attractions at Magic Kingdom. This indoor roller coaster takes place almost entirely in the dark, which makes every turn and drop feel faster and more intense than it actually is. It’s especially popular with older kids, teens, and adults who enjoy thrilling rides.
That said, this version is very different from the smoother track at Disneyland. The ride can feel jerky and rough at times, and some guests may find it less comfortable than expected. Even so, its history, theme, and classic Disney status make it a must-ride at least once.
Located in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World, Space Mountain remains one of the most popular attractions in the park, and using Lightning Lane can help you avoid long wait times.
13. Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Jungle Cruise is a classic Disney attraction where the skipper truly makes the experience. Each guide delivers their own version of the famous corny jokes, meaning no two rides are exactly the same.
The slow boat ride takes you through playful jungle scenes filled with animals, surprises, and lots of humor that both kids and adults can enjoy. This is one of my personal favorite rides because of its charm and personality.

8. Haunted Mansion

Ride Time: 10 minutes
Haunted Mansion is spooky, but not truly terrifying, though sensitive kids may feel differently. My six-year-old was ready to leave during the stretching room after noticing the hanging figure, which can be an intense moment. However, most guests quickly fall in love with the ride’s creative storytelling and unforgettable scenes, especially the iconic ballroom filled with dancing ghosts.
Located in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, this popular attraction often has long wait times and is especially busy during Halloween season, so using a Lightning Lane is a great way to save time.
7. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is often called the perfect “starter coaster,” and for good reason. This runaway mine train adventure delivers plenty of speed, dips, and excitement without the intense drops or inversions of larger thrill rides, making it a great choice for kids, first-time coaster riders, and adults alike.
Set in the rugged, detailed landscape of the Old West in Frontierland, the attraction tells the story of a cursed mining train that races out of control through red rock canyons, dark tunnels, and rickety wooden trestles.

The storytelling, music, and atmosphere make you feel like you’ve stepped right into a pirate adventure.
The ride features a few small drops and darker moments, which add excitement without making it too intense. Most kids handle it well, and the familiar music and playful scenes help balance the more dramatic elements.
The iconic “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me” song and the incredible attention to detail make this attraction unforgettable.
Because of its popularity and central location in Adventureland at Walt Disney World, wait times can build throughout the day, but the line usually moves steadily. Pirates of the Caribbean is a must-do attraction and easily earns its spot near the top of the list.
5. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Height Requirement: Any height
Ride Time: 4 minutes
Winnie the Pooh is a fun ride that takes guests on a colorful journey through the Hundred Acre Wood. This attraction is filled with bright scenes, gentle motion, and playful storytelling, making it perfect for preschoolers and younger elementary-age kids—though guests of all ages will find themselves smiling along the way.
Because of its popularity, wait times can often grow long, but the interactive queue is a highlight all on its own. Kids can stay entertained by playing with hands-on activities like spinning honeycombs, opening surprise panels, and even “touching” the dripping honey on the walls, which reacts in fun and surprising ways.
These interactive elements make the wait feel like part of the adventure, and many families find it’s almost as fun as the ride itself. Once onboard, guests bounce with Tigger, float through dreamy scenes with Pooh, and experience gentle, imaginative moments that capture the heart of the classic stories.
4. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Height Requirement: 40 inches
Ride Time: About 11 minutes
This ride combines storytelling, music, and a thrilling drop into one beautifully themed experience. It’s easily one of the most immersive rides in Magic Kingdom right now. It also is at the top of the list because it is new and exciting to ride since it was recently renovated.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is full of bright colors, catchy songs, and charming scenes that make it feel both exciting and incredibly cute. The storyline follows Princess Tiana as she prepares for a celebration, and the animatronics and music truly bring the bayou to life.
Yes — you may get wet. But it’s worth it.
I always recommend bringing ponchos to the park specifically for this ride. Even if you don’t think you’ll need one, you’ll be glad you have it after that final drop.
One helpful tip: this ride often has much shorter wait times on cold or rainy days. If the weather isn’t great, don’t waste your Lightning Lane on it — you can usually ride with a minimal wait.
The Walt Disney World version is longer than the Disneyland version, but both follow the same storyline and have that same fun, feel-good energy that makes it a must-do
3. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Height Requirement: 38 inches
Ride Time: 2 minutes, 45 seconds
This family coaster is one of the most popular rides in all of Magic Kingdom, and for good reason. It’s smooth, fun, and the swinging ride vehicles make it feel just different enough to stand out from other coasters in the park.
One of the highlights is the incredible animatronics inside the mine. The Seven Dwarfs are some of the most impressive figures in Walt Disney World, and the scenes are colorful, detailed, and full of charm.
What makes this ride especially cute is that it isn’t just a coaster. In the middle of the ride, you actually slow down and pause to experience part of the Snow White story, which makes it feel more like a classic Disney attraction rather than just a thrill ride.
Even kids who are nervous about roller coasters usually end up loving this one because it’s gentle and not too intense. That said, wait times are almost always long, so this is one to prioritize early in the day or book with Lightning Lane if available.
2. Peter Pan’s Flight
Height Requirement: Any height
Ride Time: 3 minutes
Short ride. Very long wait. Totally worth it.
Peter Pan’s Flight is one of the most magical attractions in Magic Kingdom, and flying over London at night is easily one of the most unforgettable moments in the park. Seeing Big Ben and the sparkling city lights below you truly feels like you’re soaring off to Never Land.
The Line is Awesome!
One of the best parts of this ride is actually the queue. It’s interactive, beautifully themed, and makes the wait feel shorter — especially for kids. You’ll walk through the Darling family home, explore the nursery, and even get sprinkled with pixie dust, which makes the whole experience feel even more magical before you board your flying ship.
Because it’s one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom, the wait times get long quickly. If this ride is important to your family, rope drop it right when the park opens or grab a Lightning Lane. It’s especially great for younger kids, but honestly, it’s a classic that everyone loves.
1. TRON Lightcycle / Run
Height Requirement: 48 inches
Ride Time: 2 minutes
TRON Lightcycle / Run is Magic Kingdom’s most intense thrill ride, and easily one of the most exciting attractions in the park.
From the moment you board your lightcycle, you know this isn’t a typical roller coaster. Instead of sitting in a traditional seat, you lean forward in a motorcycle-style position, which makes the experience feel faster and more immersive.
The launch is fast, smooth, and absolutely incredible, especially at night when the canopy lights up in glowing blue. It truly feels like you’re racing into the Grid.
My Experience
When I rode TRON, it was so much fun, especially in the front row. Sitting in row 1 makes a huge difference because you have an unobstructed view as you blast outside under the illuminated canopy. That outdoor launch moment is short, but it’s unforgettable.
There are actually two ride tracks, and while they’re nearly identical, one side felt slightly smoother to me. (I wish I could remember which one!) Either way, both deliver the same thrilling high-speed launch and indoor race sequence.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is inspired by Disney’s TRON films, where competitors race lightcycles inside a digital world. The ride perfectly captures that futuristic energy with glowing effects, high-speed turns, and a pulsing soundtrack that makes you feel like you’re part of the game.
It’s not the longest ride in Magic Kingdom, but it’s absolutely one of the most exhilarating.
Using Lightning Lane at Magic Kingdom
Having a strategy for Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World Resort can make a huge difference in how many rides you experience. Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can book their first three Lightning Lane selections up to 7 days before their trip, while other guests can book 3 days in advance.
This early booking window is especially important if you want access to the most popular rides, since many of them either sell out quickly or require a separate Individual Lightning Lane purchase.
It’s also smart to schedule your first Lightning Lane early in the morning, because once you scan in and use it, you can immediately book another.
As the day goes on, availability becomes more limited, and by the afternoon—sometimes as early as 2:00 PM—return times for major attractions may already be pushed to late evening or completely gone.
Guests who plan ahead and continue booking throughout the day will have the best chance of maximizing their ride count.
